2010 Ways to Be an Employment Ambassador

  1. Ask about jobs when visiting businesses
  2. Carry “Ambassador” cards and story templates
  3. Call on seasonal employers for jobs
  4. Frequent the establishments of participating employers; let them know!
  5. Leave info about 2010 with employers
  6. Spread the news of 2010 to community groups you belong to
  7. Send in a success story
  8. Remember special event jobs or months, such as sweet potato month
  9. Post 2010 news on blogs
  10. Include info about what job coaches do on business cards
  11. Tell people in your neighborhood about 2010
  12. Let employers know how to get motivated, reliable, trained workers
  13. Ask employers to share a story a success story

  15. Refer an employer to a CIE provider
  16. Add link to www.philaonthejob.org to your website
  17. Include success stories & supports in your organization’s newsletter
  18. Talk to friends and family about the importance of employment for all

  20.  Ask people who aren’t working what they would love to do and make $$$ to do
  21.  Patronize stores and businesses that hire people with disabilities
  22.  Tell store managers and owners who hire people with disabilities that you support them, and let others know about them
  23.  Walk with someone around their neighborhood, say hello to local merchants, and look for possibilities
  24.  Connect someone to a peer mentor who can discuss the joys and struggles of working
  25.  Contribute to a ‘Career Advisory Network’ instead of ‘readiness and endless waiting’
  26.  Discover a person’s talents and think about where they might be valued and needed
  27.  Help someone to network in personal and community circles
  28. Employment for All – Sing it from the rooftops!
  29. Advertise “Situations Wanted”
  30. Don’t keep employment success stories to yourself!
  31. Recruit someone to help with ‘Informational Interviews’ to provide a type of networking
  32. Ask your circle of contacts (community groups, places of worship, recreation groups) to pass on information about jobs or job leads
  33. Spread the word about Vision for Employment 2010 in your neighborhood
