The Octavia Green “Dream Job” Award Octavia Green embodied a life of choices and realizing her dreams. During her 20+ years of service in the advocacy community, Octavia conducted training on a variety of topics including building healthy relationships, self-determination, sexual abuse, and other quality of life issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities. Her passing on May 18, 2006, was deeply felt by all those Octavia touched during her life. Octavia worked as a consultant with Networks for Training and Development, Inc., (Networks), specifically with the Person-to-Person training series since its inception in 1992. She joined Networks’ staff in November of 2005 as their Assistant Training Coordinator. Upon officially joining Networks, Octavia often said, “I finally have my dream job!” ******** Help us celebrate the dream job in all of us! The Exemplary Employer Award For the past five years, Networks has honored Pennsylvania employers who display commitment, integrity, and extraordinary support to people with disabilities in the workplace. Co-workers, supervisors, managers or any other employee within the business community may be nominated. Previous awardees have demonstrated a willingness and genuineness to encourage people with disabilities to obtain, keep, and advance their jobs in inclusive settings. They have helped to establish natural supports in their workplace and have stood out among their peers in supporting individuals with disabilities to maintain jobs in the community. ******** Let’s encourage those who are going above and beyond to support people with disabilities in jobs!
