Take Your Legislator to Work Day

As part of the current Philadelphia Employment Initiative, members are connecting with legislators and bringing back, "Take Your Legislator to Work!" We need legislators to know why work is important for ALL!

Take Your Legislator to Work!

Philadelphia’s Employment First Steering Committee is re-connecting to the national movement of Take Your Legislator to Work Day and is encouraging Employment Provider participation.

We’re Kicking Off a Year of Engagement: October is National Disability Awareness Month (NDEAM), and the theme is “Access to Good Jobs for All”. Let’s Kick off NDEAM and raise awareness of the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities.

How can Employment Providers Participate?

Identify Individuals who:
• are working in diverse jobs
• have supportive employers
• are passionate about the job they do

Individuals should invite their legislators to visit their workplaces to:
• Provide a tour of the workplace and highlight duties the individual performs.
• Introduce the legislator to the individual’s employer and co-workers.
• Engage in a discussion about their experience working at a job in the community and the difference employment makes.
